David Eikenburg Memorial Bike Ride, New Braunfells, TX

November 15, 2008

Very nice ride and extremely beautiful scenery. Nice fast roads, barely any chip seal the whole route. This ride is in memory of David Eikenburg. He was a pastor at the church it is held at and was killed in a cycling accident 4 years ago. Everyone was extremely friendly and all the volunteers at the rest stops were definitely going above and beyond. I did the 100 mile route. Although a cold front blew in the night before with winds 25 to 30 mph and temperature barely getting above 70 degrees, it was an awesome ride. They had breakfast burritos before the ride and a lot of other goodies. Nice home made meal after as well. The ride starts out in the Schlitterbaum area and first 30 miles is thru the mountains. Excellent get away. We stayed an extra night to take it all in. About 80 riders turned out even with the weather. I will do this one again and look forward to next year.
