Texas 24 hour time Trial - Cleburne, TX

October, 2004

Reviews for all distances of The Texas Time Trials, The Final results, Awards, Splits and lots of photo's can be viewed at www.tt24tt.com

A different kind of ride from your standard charity ride. There were 4 different time trials. 48 hours, 24, 12 and 6 hours. The 48, 24, and 12 hour distances could be completed as teams as well as individually. I rode the 6 hour trial. The course was a part of the Goatneck ride - a 20.1 mile loop. Each loop had about 700 feet of climbing. (a very unscientific guess based on the topo on the website - it actually felt more
like several thousand to me...) Conditions for the 6 hour were good - overcast with occasional mist. The road surface is chip seal - but it was fairly smooth. Shoulders (when we had them) were clear. If they just could have done something about that wind...
There were great goody bags - a tee-shirt, hat, coozie, jersey (!). And door prizes afterwards. New Hope Baptist Church lets us use their parking and facilities. They also cooked breakfast for those who were there Saturday morning and a hot dog dinner for all Saturday night.
The 24 hour and 500 mile events are definitely for hard core cyclists. I'm not sure I'll ever be ready to do that - I'm not sure there's a seat comfy enough for me! But I admire the riders that can do it. All told there were about 100 of us participating.
