Spook 'n Spoke, Wichita Falls, TX

October 30, 2010

Spook ‘n Spoke held in Wichita Falls with a Halloween theme. I did the ’62 mile’ ride, which is actually 57 miles (I did this ride in 2006 so I knew that was the actual distance, so I was not surprised). 22 mile of the route intersects with the HHH 100 mile course. The course is relatively flat with some of the lowest traffic volumes you’ll see on an organized ride. The good – 10am start time which both allows those coming from the DFW area to get there and the temperature to warm up a little (it was in the 40’s over night by the ride start it was in the upper 50’s). For a nice change they had long sleeve t-shirts which always have a Halloween theme on them. Things to improve on – it appears they’ve used the same route for the last four years, they don’t put it on the website and you only get it when you pick up your packet. Either add the five mile to the course or call it a 57 mile ride. Over all a good ride, but not well publicized.
