Lyondell Bike Around the Bay – Galveston, TX
October, 2010
I went on this ride last year and it has great support. The only ride that lets you go over the I-45 bridge in Galveston on the second day.
October, 2007
What a great ride! I highly recommend this ride to anyone. This was the 1st annual and was very well organized. Safety for the riders definitely came first! I’ve never seen so many streets coned off for the riders, so many police escorts and sag wagons. They were everywhere and very friendly. The volunteers at the rest stops (water stations) were great and the food, water and gatorade was plentiful! Jason’s Deli for lunch on the second day…WOW! My only complaint, if I had to complain, would be the portable toilets ran out of toilet paper on the 1st day but that was well taken care of for the second day. This was the first time for me & my husband to ride a two day ride and what a way to start. This is a great ride for anyone who likes to pedal. Of the 145 miles we rode I believe there was only about 2 miles of coasting - the roads were extremely flat so the only coasting to be found was after you climbed to the top of a bridge and there weren’t many of those. The weather was picture perfect and the scenery was beautiful. Again, I would recommend this to anyone! We will be back in 2008 - It’s currently scheduled for October 18th & 19th 2008.
