Conquer the Coast, Corpus Christi, TX
October 17, 2015
They advertise that this ride has the toughest 18 miles in Texas – confirmed! This is a must do ride for anyone, the full (60+ miles) ride shouldn't be attempted by a novice as the bridges are many and tough. The wind is also a true nemesis as it typically blows from the south right into your face as you ride down Mustang Island; for 18 miles! The ride is well marked and staffed pretty well, although the support dwindles the further you get from the start. The rest stops are many and well stocked and the food and beer at Hurricane Harbor at the end is a welcome relief. I also suggest all riders take the time to take in some of the sites; the Texas State Aquarium is a great stop and touring the battleship in Corpus Christi Bay is REALLY cool.

This is an enjoyable ride. It is well-supported and, being on the coast, you get to see scenery and critters you won't find in Nort Texas (where I usually ride). We escaped rain but had overcast skies and 30+ mph winds. It was the first time I ever had a tail wind when ridng down Mustang Island! 20+ mph for almost 20 miles was fun.
