MS 1.5 Kid’s Bike Challenge, Allen, TX
April 6, 2008
“For its first year, the MS 1.5 Kid’s Bike Challenge was a great success according to kids, parents and vendors who participated. The location (Celebration Park in Allen) was a superb location to hold a kids ride with its paved 1.5-mile bike path. Fast riders led the ride with the slowest riders bringing up the rear to ensure safety. Plano Cycling provided bike and helmet checks, while the City of Allen Police Explorers monitored the park entrances/exits to ensure safe riding for all the riders. Besides a traditional rider’s bag of goodies and snacks, everyone who rode received a “Great Job” ribbon and crossed the finish to cheers and claps. The ride coordinators provided an atmosphere of fun with music, raffle prizes, a homebaked sweets sale and $1 Grab Bags for kids without shorting the event as a fundraiser and learning opportunity about MS, bike safety and helping others. This is definitely a “must attend” ride for next year!”
