We are considering a symposium of Ride directors to exchange ideas. If you are interested please contact me at bicyclestuff@gmail.com

Winter is here and once again I enter my plea for suggestions for improvement, criticisms or even compliments. Now while I have a little more time, is the time to improve and/or change. Any ideas? bicyclestuff@gmail.com

Bike Thru the Forest (and Hills)

Coldspring, TX

Jan 31, 2009

I rode the Bike Thru the Forest (and Hills) Ride in Coldspring on Saturday, Jan 31st.
It's a long way from Ft. Worth, but we went down the day before and camped at Lake Livingston State Park. The ride was started in several stages which I did not quite understand, but I guess it kept the road from becoming choked at the very start of the ride. The ride did start off hilly, became scenic as we went through the Sam Houston Forest portion and then became a bit of a more common road ride before we returned to the forest portion. The longest ride was 46 miles. It was advertised as being equivalent to a 60 miler due to the hilliness of the ride. The hills were a part of the ride for the first five miles and again in the last five miles because the ride doubled back on itself. The hills were not easy, but they were not equivalent to another 15 miles of riding.

The volunteers were helpful and friendly. The weather could not have been better. I don't know how many showed up to ride, but it looked like an excellent turnout. I recommend it for an early season ride.
