Black Eye Pea Ride, Texarkana, TX
January 1, 2010
01/01/2010 was the date of the first ever Black Eyed Pea ride. The ride was put together by the Edge City Cycling club of Texarkana. The ride was designed to let cyclists get a good start on the New Year. The ride consists of several loops (3 mile up to 10 mile) that allow riders to ride as many circuits as they want to (the most miles put in was 60). The rest area was set up so that riders could take a break to warm up and refuel with some black eyed peas and cornbread. Riders of all levels participated. Racers rode along with brand new riders who had made a resolution for the New Year to get into an exercise routine. The routes were well marked; SAG support was available for all routes; the rest stop was well stocked; a poker ride was set up for folks wanting to participate. We hope that the 2nd Black Eyed Pea rides will be a bigger hit than the first one. The 2011 Black Eyed Pea ride will be held 01/01/2011 starting at 10 AM and going until the last rider is finished. All routes start out at Grady T. Wallace Park in Texarkana.
