October 7, 2006 - GLPPP (Garland L. Parise Pineywoods Purgatory)
- Lufkin, TX - Routes of 25, 52, 72 and 102 miles - Join us for a challenging ride in the beautiful hills of east Texas. Saturday October 7 the Garland L. Parise' Pineywoods Purgatory will roll out of Lufkin at 8:00 a.m. with rides of 25, 52, 72, and 102 to challenge nearly 1000 riders. This great ride is sponsored by the Lufkin Lions Club and benefits the Susan R. Mathis Resource Center (American Cancer Society). The AWESOME themed rest stops are well-manned and well-stocked with great food and fun! They are strategically placed about 12 miles apart for the comfort of the riders. SAG is incredible. No roads left unmanned! There is a great spaghetti dinner on Friday night for $5.00 and there are free massages and free fajitas after the ride along with an awesome slide show of the day's events! Lufkin is a great place to visit in the fall and they make a wonderful host for this great Texas ride. Web page -

- lyn butcher, ride director cell # 940 682-8451 Same great stuff like buttons for Cherry Pie Hill Survivors, Elvis Lovin' Huzzies Rest Stop, plus this year the city is allowing overnight camping in the park. We also have graduated out of the gazebo into having morning registration in the American Legion Hall. Cannon start, Homemade cookies....what have I forgotten? Planning on tee shirts for 500! Got caught last year with a big jump in attendance...yippee but whew! Thanks for all you do for the riders and ride providers.
