April 9, 2005 - Tour de Cypress, Mt Vernon, TX - Routes of 10, 36, 45 and 72 miles - Start 7:45 a.m. for the 72 miles, 8:00 a.m. for 36 and 45 miles and 9:00 a.m. for the 10 mile ride.  - Cost $25.00/$30.00 by 3/5/05. Web Page - New ride no reviews The Mount Vernon Rotary Club's first annual Tour de Cypress Bike Race and Tour on April 9 is being complemented by art exhibits and demonstrations, children's events, a pottery show, nature walks and historical tours. The first 300 riders to register will be given an official (Livestrong) bracelet. The traditional spaghetti supper at the Airport Community Hall and a wine and cheese reception at the historic Old Church Inn will be open to all and will precede the race on Friday night. Prizes of $300, $200 and $100 will be awarded to the first three finishers in the 72 mile race. Quick breakfasts will be available at the square, and hamburgers will cooked  on the square for lunch. For kids, there will be face painting, free coloring books, a coloring contest and a story hour. Tours for birders will be available on Sunday. April 23, 2005 - Ride with the Eagles, Mt. Pleasant, Texas - Four fun routes of 11, 22, 45, and 65 miles are available and all are complete with fabulous scenery, rest stops with entertainment, and plenty of food and drink. Entry fee is $20 per person, or a family rate of $15 per person for families of 3-5 riders is available. Entry fee includes a t-shirt, “goody bag”, student art show, and an after-ride lunch.
