As ride director I want to give you an update on the Cotton Patch Challenge coming September 20. Yes, it's still coming. Our hope is that by September we'll be out of the woods on the virus and resuming some semblance of a full schedule.
Our purpose for the ride is not just a ride. It's about the charities that depend on the funds raised from the ride all across Hunt County. Most of the recipients are children's charities as that is our Rotary passion. We hope this is a banner year because we give it all away and love doing that. The bike ride is one of our biggest fund raising events of the year.
That said we want to do everything possible to have a quality event for you this year again. The event is also closely tied to the Lee St. Jamboree that promises to be better than ever. Our events are tied at the hip to work together.
As of now the Jamboree is a go for the city of Greenville. Therefore we are a go. Should the city decide to cancel the event we will follow that lead. So far it's full speed ahead.
In addition, with all the ride events across TX cancelling, we feel all the pent up energy for riding could result in our biggest and best ride ever. If the event is cancelled, you will receive a full refund upon request. We will contact you and ask. You can optionally let the money go to charity but there is no risk to you when you register.
In our ride event planning we will be changing some things to ensure safety for everyone. Special precautions will be made in rest stops, snack preparation and how it is distributed. Gloves and sanitizers will be available at each stop location to take advantage of.
Registration is open and the basic registration is still $30 until June 1 when it goes to $35 and $40 July 1 and $50.00 day of ride. Bring the family as we have a 6 mile option for only $6.00 for new riders.

G3 GRAVEL RIDE The G3 will not be participating this year with us. We hope to have it back next year. To Register: shorturl.at/kOTV5

UPDATE #1: Something New! Because of the isolation time bicycles have been flying out of stores. This means a lot of new bicycle owners. We want to accommodate all of you that might be new owners and don't feel up to a long ride yet but want to experience the joy of a group bike ride. So we've added a shorty 6 mile route for you. This is a simple ride but fun when with a group. It's only $5 to join us. Who do you know that might like to come and play? Register Now through Active.

Early Registration will open on Richardson Bike Mart day March 14 at the RBM Richardson location. That day you can register for the September 19th event for only $25. This year there are special rates for 12-21 mile riders and riders 12 and under. It's always a great event but this year is going to be special. After RBM Day the price will increase $5 and increase again every 2 months by $5 until ride day at $50.

With 2020 you will notice numerous changes that we hope you will appreciate and take advantage of. Here are some briefs:

  • All new informational website at https://cottongpatchchallenge.com. See things to enjoy while in Greenville and make it a family event. Bring them even if they don't ride. There will be plenty for them to do while you are pedaling.
  • Dinner on Friday night. Come and stay overnight, explore more of Greenville and have an all-you-can-eat Spaghetti Dinner at the Landmark on Lee served by the Greenville Noon Rotary Club.
Breakfast the morning of the ride at the same location, load up on another all-you-can-eat flapjack meal with the family and other riders.
  • See things to do in Greenville
  • Lee Street Jamboree will be taking place all afternoon until 5pm. Emerald City Band will be playing from 1:30-3:00 at the bandstand. Enjoy the after-ride music and refreshments at the many restaurants in walking distance. Beer, Wine, Ice Cream, Full Meals, Sidewalk Sales, activities and rides for kids. It's all here.
  • You will be able to order Jerseys, Shorts, Bibs and Ts in cuts for men and women. Hope to see you again at the 24th edition of the Cotton Patch Challenge.
