This two-day, 150 mile tour around Galveston Bay benefits the Galveston Bay Foundation, which has been working to preserve and protect Galveston Bay for more than 20 years. You'll get to ride on roads and bridges not usually open to cyclists in this very scenic, well-supported ride. It's a non-pledge ride, but feel free to raise money from your fisherman friends and duck-hunting buddies to pay the entry fees. Below is a link to the website, which should provide all the details you need to plan a weekend in the Houston-Galveston area. (Did you know the DFW area is in the Galveston Bay watershed? The Trinity River provides more than 50% of the freshwater that flows into this important estuary, which is the second most productive estuary in the country.
